Many of us have been there that unlovely, unsavory, painful and dibilitating place I lovingly call Migraine Hell.
Migraines can be caused by many factors including stress, food sensitivities and hormonal changes (in women).
I’ve suffered from migraines since I was a teenager and would frequently find myself laying in the dark with a cold cloth over my head. As I got older the migraines actually increased with intensity and I found myself taking a number of preventative meds and in some extream cases having to visit the emergency room for what I refer to as the headache cocktail.
I’ve since learned to combat my migraines without having to use traditional mainstream meds and now rarely suffer from a migraine.
So I wanted to share with you a few of the ways you can combat migraines.
Change your diet – Eliminate or reduce sugars especially fake sugars, fermented foods can also be triggers ie, red wine, cheese, etc., foods with msg or other heavily processed foods ie, hotdogs, cold cuts, etc.
Try Tea – Valerian works well when you’re in the mist of the migraine by reducing the intensity of the headache. Feverfew and Chamomile can help reduce the onsite of migraine if taken daily.
Tinctures – All Natural drops that are added to your water on a daily basis specifically mixed for migraines. We offer our migraine ease drops in our shop.
Water it up – drink your fluids, water water water stay hydrated all the time.
Deep Breathing Exercises – Try a few deep breathing exercises such as the 4-7-8 method. Breat in through your nose to the count of 4, hold for the count of 7 then breathout through your mouth to the count of 8.
Meditation – simply 3-5 minutes daily of meditation can make a tremendous difference.
Supplements – Magnesium is know to reduce and can have an immediate effect of migraine pain.
There are a number of ways to get reduce or practically get rid of your migraines on a natural level. Many times the medications that are prescribed will reduce your migraines but will have adverse site effects.
If you are a migraine sufferer I urge you to try out a few of these steps and see how it works for you.

Keeping it Healthy
Happiness is a Choice
You read that correctly, happiness is a choice it is not gifted or given, it is not earned or purchased. Happiness is something that we can freely choose. You can choose to allow a situation to make you sad, miserable, depressed, or unhappy. Or you can see it as another step in life allowing you to grow, learn and choose the right to be happy.
Getting you Healthy from the Inside Out.
I’m not your typical nutritional consultant. I don’t like to diet so I never tell anyone to diet, diet has the word die in it after all. I’ve been studying health and nutrition for over 10 years. I am living proof that we don’t need massive amounts of food to survive for over 10 years I’ve only been able to consume on average 3-4 ounces of food at a time.
This was me in 2000, my highest weight was 280lbs and although I was relatively healthy I found myself unhappy, overwhelmed and had started to suffer hip and joint issues. I was never a thin girl to begin with but decided to undergo weight loss surgery to help me along. In early 2000 I under went a VBG (Vertical Banded Gastroplasty) to lose weight and within the year I watched as others in my support group began to regain the weight they had initially lost. Honestly my fear of regaining the weight pushed me on a journey to health and nutrition.
I quickly learned that it wasn’t the quantity of food that kept you health but the quality of the food. I started to change my chemically laden foods for whole and organic products, real butter, real raw sugars, veggies and fruits. I have trouble digesting meats so I substituted with beans, lentils, cheeses and yogurt.
My friends quickly labeled me a poster child for weight loss surgery but I quickly learned that I wasn’t a poster child for the surgery but a poster child for a method of eating. I began to share my knowledge and then kicked myself into full gear and obtain a certification in holistic nutrition, health and herbology.
So I’m going to give you two of my biggest secrets to successful weight-loss after surgery and even before.
Secret #1 eat high quality foods – Read the ingredients of the foods you are eating. Make sure they aren’t loaded in chemicals. Choose real butter over margarine, organic milk over antibiotic laden milks, and anything that’s going to give you the highest nutritional value without the harmful ingredients.
Secret #2 and this is my biggest secret…eat that cake – Yes you read that right eat that cake, cookie, candy, ice cream, fill in the blank. Whatever you are craving eat it. Why is this my biggest secret well what happens is we crave a cookie and typically what we will do is that we will eat around the cookie, I’ll have that salad, apple, more salad, veggies, juices, etc. we fill the void with these foods but what happens is that we will still crave that cookie and in the end if you count the calories of those salads, fruits, veggies, dressings you’re adding to them, juices etc they will usually add up to more than the calorie count of that cookie you craved.
In a word it’s okay to have the occasional “Junk Food” you can find cookies, sweets etc that are whole, organic or you can make them yourself if you are good at the baking thing. Denying yourself any foods will backfire you need to eat, eat health, eat happy and enjoy what you eat. This will make any weight loss program much easier to follow long-term.
It’s been over 10 years since I had my surgery I continue to keep the weight off and have learned to eat in a more whole and holistic way. Am I a success story?? I”m going to say yes and you can be too.
I’m here to help you get healthy and happy from the inside out.
We live in a society where we try to get rid of all germs and bugs that might be out there. Our kids are no longer allowed to play outside in the dirt for fear of illness, we use things such as anti-bacterial soaps and lotions. We purchase hand sanitizer and scrub things down with bleach. We use antibiotics to heal a common cold and pump the meats with it. In an effort to be healthy and germ free.
But did you know that in a sense we need germs? Yes I said, it we need germs to maintain optimal health the use of all these germ killing products cause our bodies not to be able to fight germs on its own. There are already germs out there that don’t respond to hand sanitizer and must be washed off with good old soap and water.
I work in a hospital and we tend to use hand sanitizer a lot its drying to the skin, contains chemicals that might be harmful such as Triclosan, Parabens, and, Fragrances and should not be used all the time. Unfortunately many of these chemicals are used in not only the hand sanitizer but also regular soaps, toys, and other products.
Our desire to stay healthy can sometimes work against us. There are times where I think we need to start back tracking into the past before the common cold becomes the new plague.
Let your children play in the dirt and enjoy the cold weather, use natural soaps, lotions and medications to treat non life threatening illness. Keep foods as organic as possible to avoid ingesting more antibiotics the you should be.
Be mindful of the products you use on your body. I’ve changed everything from our soap using the Castile or Goats Milk soap created at our Etsy Shop as replacement, our lotions and even using natural deodorant.
Staying healthy is in your hands people often comment on the price of holistic or organic products but being healthy is a lot cheaper than being sick and having to load up on main stream meds and medical care.
Get Yourself Healthy from the Inside Out!
I will admit that I have had a life long love affair with butter. I put it on toast, corn, crackers, and sometimes even a little pat of butter on some white rice can be tasty. I use butter to cook eggs, and in other recipes that might call for it. I never ever use butter substitutes like margarine or any fake tub butter. Sometime when cooking I also use clarified butter known as Ghee, Ghee is butter that has had all the impurities cooked out of it, it’s almost all saturated fat and has a high cooking temp thus making it safer to use for cooking foods as it has a higher smoke point then butter.
Ghee has been used in Indian cooking for thousands of years and is also used medicinally in Ayurveda.
It can be used to:
Ghee can be used if you are lactose intolerant in place of butter
boost your daily requirement of antioxidants
Can help with the delivery of medicinal properties of herbs
Can be used in all cooking
Is known to increase memory and mental clarity
- Sooth digestion
- Can be used for skin and eye health
Ghee is a healthy alternative to traditional butters and oils.
Our Ghee is produced in a commercial kitchen using quality organic butter made from grass-fed cows.
It can be used in recipes calling for traditional butter, can be spread on crackers, corn, used to cook your breakfast or added to soups and stews. Providing a slightly nutty flavor you won’t be disappointed.

We also offer infused Ghee which is made to order using healthy medicinal herbs and roots such as:
