What to Expect During Your Intuitive Reading

I was asked the other day what happens during a Tarot Card session by a person who was nervous about getting one. So I’ve decided to go ahead and give you all an idea of what to expect during your readings.

During our session we will discuss your future goals and aspirations where you see yourself heading and if you are heading in the right direction or if you have to take another route into consideration. As a medium I not only use the guides who might come through to give you messages, but I also use intuition and the Tarot to help guide you.

The reading does not tell you a solid set in stone future but allows you a glimpse into what might be coming in your direction so that you are better prepared for what’s to come and you will have an opportunity to make any necessary changes to your journey.

Remember the future is not set in stone, YOU are the driver on your journey through life.

Some of the things that will not happen during your reading:

  • I will not tell you that you are curse, haunted, riddled with bad luck, and for a mere $$$$ I will remove said issue.
  • I will not tell you that you will meet someone with the initials MC, AB, UL etc. If you are destined to meet someone I will not have you focusing on a set of initials and unable to focus on the quality of people who cross your path.
  • I will not tell you your going to die, since that is a given eventually we all die.
  • I will not recommend you see me every day, week, month, year. I leave this up to each individual. If you are currently processing a situation and need help I will be happy to work out a schedule that will allow you to work on issues while keeping track of your progress. (Yes I incorporate mini coaching into each reading).

What you can expect during your reading:

  • A compassionate and understanding ear. Do not be afraid to ask questions or share any situation you might be involved in. I am here to help.
  • Confidentiality, I will not share your information or if you came to see me and when with anyone and this means anyone, friends, husbands, family etc.
  • Honesty
  • The possibility of spirit coming to give a message. Sometimes my readings will be hijacked by those who have crossed over and need to give you a message.

When you come for your appointment please come and see me with an open mind and heart.  If you are nervous please let me know and we will work together to work through any anxiety you might be experience.  A reading should be a pleasurable experience when you leave my office you should feel a sense of understanding on which direction you should be heading towards.

If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask. That is what I’m here for.

And as always I look forward to being a part of your journey.

Happiness is a Choice

You read that correctly, happiness is a choice it is not gifted or given, it is not earned or purchased.  Happiness is something that we can freely choose.  You can choose to allow a situation to make you sad, miserable, depressed, or unhappy.  Or you can see it as another step in life allowing you to grow, learn and choose the right to be happy.

I’ll Have That Cake And Eat It Too

I’m not your typical nutritional consultant.  I don’t like to diet so I never tell anyone to diet, diet has the word die in it after all.  I’ve been studying health and nutrition for over 10 years.  I am living proof that we don’t need massive amounts of food to survive for over 10 years I’ve only been able to consume on average 3-4 ounces of food at a time.

This was me in 2000, my highest weight was 280lbs and although I was relatively healthy I found myself unhappy, overwhelmed and had started to suffer hip and joint issues.  I was never a thin girl to begin with but decided to undergo weight loss surgery to help me along.  In early 2000 I under went a VBG (Vertical Banded Gastroplasty) to lose weight and within the year I watched as others in my support group began to regain the weight they had initially lost.  Honestly my fear of regaining the weight pushed me on a journey to health and nutrition.

I quickly learned that it wasn’t the quantity of food that kept you health but the quality of the food.  I started to change my chemically laden foods for whole and organic products, real butter, real raw sugars, veggies and fruits. I have trouble digesting meats so I substituted with beans, lentils, cheeses and yogurt.

My friends quickly labeled me a poster child for weight loss surgery but I quickly learned that I wasn’t a poster child for the surgery but a poster child for a method of eating.  I began to share my knowledge and then kicked myself into full gear and obtain a certification in holistic nutrition, health and herbology.

So I’m going to give you two of my biggest secrets to successful weight-loss after surgery and even before.

Secret #1 eat high quality foods – Read the ingredients of the foods you are eating.  Make sure they aren’t loaded in chemicals. Choose real butter over margarine, organic milk over antibiotic laden milks, and anything that’s going to give you the highest nutritional value without the harmful ingredients.

Secret #2 and this is my biggest secret…eat that cake – Yes you read that right eat that cake, cookie, candy, ice cream, fill in the blank.  Whatever you are craving eat it.  Why is this my biggest secret  well what happens is we crave a cookie and typically what we will do is that we will eat around the cookie, I’ll have that salad, apple, more salad, veggies, juices, etc. we fill the void with these foods but what happens is that we will still crave that cookie and in the end if you count the calories of those salads, fruits, veggies, dressings you’re adding to them, juices etc they will usually add up to more than the calorie count of that cookie you craved.

In a word it’s okay to have the occasional “Junk Food” you can find cookies, sweets etc that are whole, organic or you can make them yourself if you are good at the baking thing.  Denying yourself any foods will backfire you need to eat, eat health, eat happy and enjoy what you eat.  This will make any weight loss program much easier to follow long-term.

It’s been over 10 years since I had my surgery I continue to keep the weight off and have learned to eat in a more whole and holistic way.  Am I a success story?? I”m going to say yes and you can be too.

I’m here to help you get healthy and happy from the inside out.

Can You Pass Me the Germs Please…

We live in a society where we try to get rid of all germs and bugs that might be out there.  Our kids are no longer allowed to play outside in the dirt for fear of illness, we use things such as anti-bacterial soaps and lotions.  We purchase hand sanitizer and scrub things down with bleach.  We use antibiotics to heal a common cold and pump the meats with it.  In an effort to be healthy and germ free.

But did you know that in a sense we need germs? Yes I said, it we need germs to maintain optimal health the use of all these germ killing products cause our bodies not to be able to fight germs on its own.  There are already germs out there that don’t respond to hand sanitizer and must be washed off with good old soap and water.

I work in a hospital and we tend to use hand sanitizer a lot its drying to the skin, contains chemicals that might be harmful such as Triclosan, Parabens, and, Fragrances and should not be used all the time. Unfortunately many of these chemicals are used in  not only the hand sanitizer but also regular soaps, toys, and other products.

Our desire to stay healthy can sometimes work against us.  There are times where I think we need to start back tracking into the past before the common cold becomes the new plague.

Let your children play in the dirt and enjoy the cold weather, use natural soaps, lotions and medications to treat non life threatening illness.  Keep foods as organic as possible to avoid ingesting more antibiotics the you should be.

Be mindful of the products you use on your body.  I’ve changed everything from our soap using the Castile or Goats Milk soap created at our Etsy Shop as replacement, our lotions and even using natural deodorant.

Staying healthy is in your hands people often comment on the price of holistic or organic products but being healthy is a lot cheaper than being sick and having to load up on main stream  meds and medical care.

Butter Makes Things Better – Clarified Butter AKA Ghee

I will admit that I have had a life long love affair with butter.  I put it on toast, corn, crackers, and sometimes even a little pat of butter on some white rice can be tasty.  I use butter to cook eggs, and in other recipes that might call for it.  I never ever use butter substitutes like margarine or any fake tub butter.  Sometime when cooking I  also use clarified butter known as Ghee, Ghee is butter that has had all the impurities cooked out of it, it’s almost all saturated fat and has a high cooking temp thus making it safer to use for cooking foods as it has a higher smoke point then butter.

Ghee has been used in Indian cooking for thousands of years and is also used medicinally in Ayurveda.

It can be used to:

  • fight inflammation
  • Ghee can be used if you are lactose intolerant in place of butter
  • boost your daily requirement of antioxidants
  • Can help with the delivery of medicinal properties of herbs
  • Can be used in all cooking
  • Is known to increase memory and mental clarity
  • Sooth digestion
  • Can be used for skin and eye health

Ghee is a healthy alternative to traditional butters and oils.

Our Ghee is produced in a commercial kitchen using quality organic butter made from grass-fed cows.

It can be used in recipes calling for traditional butter, can be spread on crackers, corn, used to cook your breakfast or added to soups and stews.  Providing a slightly nutty flavor you won’t be disappointed.

Visit our Etsy Shop to Purchase.

We also offer infused Ghee which is made to order using healthy medicinal herbs and roots such as:

  • Turmeric
  • Garlic
  • Sage

and more

How to Choose a Medium, Intuitive or Tarot Reader

We’ve all seen these signs hanging from buildings downtown or even from private homes.

Where you can get a walk-in reading that will range in price from $10-$25 dollars and can sometimes involve a dark and exotic corner with lots of incense, bells and whistles, and someone behind an elaborately clothed table dressed as a renaissance gypsy.  Don’t get me wrong I’m all for elaborately dressed tables and as many of you know I’m a renaissance festival junkie and I’ll be the first one to get dressed up in costume given the chance but I don’t do it on a regular basis.

So, let me start by saying that I am not your traditional tarot card reader, although I use the cards as a guide I also use coaching and intuition as a method to assist you. And I’m certainly not going to say that all readers except me are bogus.  However, I wanted to give you a little insight when choosing a reader what you should look for to make sure you are not 1. going to waste your money or 2. going to get scammed out of your money.

So here are some red flags that you should look for when getting a reading.

  • Someone who stops you while you are walking in the mall, park, out to dinner, etc. and begins to tell you that they see a dark, shadow, cloud, spirit, etc and that you should really call them for more insight then they hand you a business card.
  • Anyone who calls you for your business at home, work, send you emails stating your cursed or they have important info that they need to give you and you should call them.

These tactics are used to scare you into seeing them.

  •  Any reader that fishes for information or does not allow questions.

I typically will invite you to ask questions, seek clarification if something that I say does not make sense. Your reading should be an open discussion not one-sided.

  • Any readers that preys on your fears, for example telling you that you are curse, doomed, haunted, etc.

The above leads to my biggest pet peeve with many readers.

  • Charging you large amounts of money to remove a curse, cleanse your home, or heal you.

I have had clients arrive at my door step in terror that they are curse and cannot come up with the $1,000′s of dollars they are being asked to remove it, in my opinion curses do not exists if you are plagued by negativity then let’s sit down together and figure out what’s going on in your life sometimes, negative stuff happens not due to curses but to life in general.

If you are seeking a home cleansing, blessing or healing it really shouldn’t involve $$$$ I typically charge $50 for any of these services in my area and a few dollars more to cover travel if you are more than 40 minutes away.  I also do a monthly energy healing where I remotely send healing energy to all those who want to be added to our list for free if you want to be added to the monthly healing email me at info@marisolvelasco.com to be added.

  • A reader that tells you to keep your reading a secret.

You arrive at my door as a client if you choose to share the information you obtained at your reading with anyone it’s yours to share.  I do not own it I do not pretend to own it and sometimes open discussions with those you trust will allow you to better comprehend things that might not have been to clear.  On the other had however your information, name, address, email, reading details should not be shared with anyone under no circumstances unless of course you in danger of hurting yourself or others.

And last but not least

  • Leaving your reading with the feeling of dread, anxiety, sorrow, anger, or with the feeling that you just wasted your $$$$.

Your reading should be enjoyable, if your reader is not on point then you should tell them that, you should not leave the reading feeling fear, anxiety or any of that.

At the end of the day whoever you choose to get a reading by make sure that you look for these signs and if you find that at the end of the reading you had a bad experience then do not return to that reader again.  There are many honest, open, caring and compassionate readers out there that will look out for your best interest and not for the money they can get out of you.  So be wary and careful when choosing.

As always I invite you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.  If you’d like to talk to me about what the expect during the readings or have fears that I have not covered in our “What to Expect During Your Intuitive Reading” post, ask me I will be happy to provide whatever information I can.
